UGANDA’S NWSC HOSTS 94TH AfWASA SCIENTIFIC TECHNICAL COUNCIL MEETING

KAMPALA: The 94th meeting of the African Water & Sanitation Association Scientific and Technical Council yesterday kicked off at the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) International Resource Centre (IREC/NWSC) in Kampala.

Among the objectives of the 94th AfWASA STC session is to bring together African Stakeholders and their partners around the theme “Disruptive Technology and Innovations as SDG6 Accelerators in Africa.”

This meeting provides a platform for reflection and sharing on disruptive technological solutions capable of transforming water and sanitation management in Africa.

Discussions will focus on the integration of innovative technologies to address water and sanitation challenges in Africa. Among these, seawater desalination and membrane technologies will be explored to ensure a more efficient drinking water supply.

The adoption of renewable energies and the circular economy in sanitation will also be at the heart of the reflections.

The meeting is a precursor to the upcoming 2025 AfWASA Congress happening in Kampala, Uganda, in February which is expected to attract over 5000 delegates. Ends.
