President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today started his trip to the Ankole region to monitor the progress of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and the Four- acre model programs.

Museveni started his tour from Magambo Sub County in Rubirizi district where he visited a PDM beneficiary.

Tumusiime Dezirata told the President that in 2023 she received Sh1million under PDM and she used it to buy 1pig, put up a structure and later the pig produced 9piglets.

She passed on one piglet to the farmer who helped her with a male pig inform of appreciation and sold off all the piglets but maintained the mother.

Tumusiime managed to get Sh800, 000= from the sold piglets which she later used to venture into an enterprise of goat rearing. So far the goats have accumulated to 4 while the pig produced other piglets and currently she has 6pigs including their mother.

From Rubirizi he headed to Karyango in Sheema district where he visited Honest Abenaitwe a four model farmer with enterprises like a banana plantation, apiary, coffee, zero grazing among others before he proceeded to Ibanda district.

The President will later on address local leaders from the entire region at Bushenyi main stadium in Bushenyi town on Wednesday.

On Thursday he will commission a Presidential industrial hub in Mbarara and later address a mega rally in Rwampara district.

In Bushenyi town, business came to a standstill as the President’s convoy drove through the town. People stood alongside the road to catch a glimpse at the President who moved on the road from Rubirizi to Karyango in Kyangyenyi sub county Sheema district.

Different people have appreciated the President for choosing to visit the ‘little known’ unlike in the past presidential tours where the visits were for the prominent people/farmers.

“If you want move poverty from a society, you begin with finding out the root cause and then you see how to uproot it (poverty),” said Prof.Tarsis Kabwegyere, a sociologist and a former Minister.

Some people who have declared their interests to contest for the different leadership posts especially on the MP seat seized the opportunity to position their banners alongside the high way as a sign to welcome the President but also to capture the President’s attention. End.
