It was all joy yesterday at Kyamuhunga People’s SACCO in Kyamuhunga Town council in Bushenyi district as the SACCO unveiled its new home- a modern building that will host the SACCO’s headquarters.
Started in 1998, KYAPS has undergone a series of transitions that include moving from a rented room where it started from to owning a two floor building.
The function to receive the new building from the contractor took place yesterday and it was witnessed by members of the Board who were led by the SACCO’s Board chairman Paul Kahiigi Turyamureba, stakeholders/members, local leaders and the staff.
The new building will house the head office to coordinate 11 branches which are spread in the districts of Bushenyi, Mitooma, Rubirizi, Mbarara, Kanungu, Ntungamo, Kyenjojo and Kamwenge.
KYAPS with a membership of over 53000 (members) is one of Uganda’s leading role model SACCOs that has pioneered a number of models which have spurred the co-operative movement in the Country.
“We are happy that we still receive delegations from across Uganda and the neighboring countries like Kenya who flock KYAPS for benchmarking purposes,” said the General Manager JohnBosco Atwijukire.
How KYAPS has transitioned.
