I extend my warm and kind regards from Kitabi Seminary. I am grateful to the organizers of this platform that acknowledges and appreciates the silent contributions of some institutions to the growth and development of Bushenyi District.
Kitabi Seminary happens to be one of the oldest academic institution in the Bushenyi Greater and indeed in the whole of Ankole region. It was established in 1935 as a boys’ school offering secondary school curriculum. Apart from the academic pursuit, Kitabi Seminary has a core objective of preparing young boys to the vocation to Priesthood.
For decades of years, Kitabi seminary has stood the test of time and continued to provide holistic formation to all who go through it. Many sound and responsible citizens and renowned members of the church have been produced over the period of time. For example; Archbishops Paul K Bakyenga and Lambert Bainomugisha, a good number of Catholic Bishops, Priests, Army officers, Medical personnel, lawyers, Entrepreneurs, Teachers and the list is endless….
Kitabi seminary has contributed to the good name of Bushenyi District as a “Model District” in different ways:
- Academic excellence. Every year, Kitabi seminary posts good academic results at both O&A levels respectively which Ranks Bushenyi District in a better position countrywide.
- Games and Sports. Kitabi seminary believes in holistic formation of a child. We take our students through different many games and sports. We have won different trophies at different levels in games and sports. The Seminary takes pride in the acquisition of the best football pitches in the district
- Clubs, Movements and Associations. The seminary promotes activities related to clubs, movements and associations such as; scouts, debating, patriotism, science club, French club, drama club, to mention a few.
- Agricultural projects. The Seminary has a history of promoting good agricultural practices in the whole District of Bushenyi.
- we have the best piggery project with around 150 pigs
- a good demonstration dairy farm that accommodates 80 Friesian cows
- we have a goat project that has around 100 goats
- banana plantations which are model to the farmers
- huge eucalyptus forests that provide green and serene environment around the school
- Environmental Protection and conservation. Kitabi seminary is at the centre of environmental protection and conservation programs.
- We care much about green compound by providing foot paths in the whole campus so that the students do not step on grass.
- We provide dust bins and garbage collection materials in the school and distributed evenly at different strategic places
- Provision of enough tree shades in the compound
- Care and preservation of wetlands within our premises
- Discipline. We are champions of Discipline among Students and Members of Staff. We carry the mantle and make others learn from us. We believe that discipline is the hinge on which other faculties draw their strength.
Conclusion.
Kitabi Seminary wishes all the readers of this magazine good health, unity in developing Bushenyi and good will to contribute to the development of our district and the country at large.
