Bishop ‘lashes at University dons’

By Chris Mugasha

The Bishop of West Ankole Diocese Rt. Rev Johnson Twinomujuni has lashed at some of the University Professors/Dons for ‘mocking’ God.

The Bishop expressed his concern saying it is very unfortunate that some people after getting successful in life, they easily forget about God and instead begin to question and oppose Him.

“Students who are joining universities, don’t be confused and be misguided by some Professors who have been successful in acquiring knowledge but after acquiring it, they have started using it to oppose God that he is not the one who created earth…..” the Bishop advised.

Twinomujuni was on Sunday preaching to thousands of youth and students who attended the West Ankole Diocese’s 16th annual convention at Bweranyangi Hill in Bushenyi district. The youth/students were pulled from across the Diocese which is composed of the districts of Sheema, Bushenyi, Mitooma, Buhweju and Rubirizi.

The Bishop criticized some university professors/dons for being part of people who promote several forms of immorality by teaching against God’s teachings.

“To question and challenge those who spend their time in church praying saying that they’re wasting time is very unfortunate. “How do you tell people that there is no God? That is misleading people,” Twinomujuni said as he lashed at the professors who are opposed to Christianity/bible teaching.

The youth/students were called upon to imitate God’s goodness by forgiving each other, help and support those in need and being patient with every situation. A number of speakers including government officials spoke to the youth on a number of topics including patriotism, social and economic transformation. The senior presidential advisor on Media/Public relations Hon. Canon Mary Karooro Okurut commended the Bishop and the Diocese for mobilizing the youth.

The Bushenyi district woman MP Annet Katusiime Mugisha described the Diocese’s approach towards the youth as supplementing government’s efforts in having a generation that is morally upright and well groomed. End.
