Bweranyangi Girls’ Secondary school in Bushenyi district has opened its multi-billion Chapel with President Yoweri Museveni commending the school and the foundation body for integrating and mainstreaming moral and spiritual development in the academics.
Museveni said in some schools, they emphasize only academic excellence and have neglected the moral and spiritual development of the students when they (moral and spiritual development) are the most important in life.
Museveni’s appreciations were contained in his message that was delivered by the Minister for Local government Raphael Magyezi who represented him at the commissioning of the newly constructed St. Paul Chapel. The Bishop of West Ankole Diocese Rt. Rev Johnson Twinomujuni presided over the consecration service and called upon the students to aim at becoming important people who are of great value in their homes and in society.

Museveni who contributed Ugshs50million towards equipping the chapel, congratulated the school’s administration, Board of Governors, staff, students, alumni, and all the stakeholders who have contributed to the construction of the chapel.
In his message, Museveni said the completion and commissioning of St. Paul chapel is proof of the school’s commitment to raising God fearing students.
The President noted that if a person has no moral values and no speaking values, he or she can easily engage in evils.
“I wish to commend Bweranyangi for integrating spirituality in the school curriculum,” Museveni said.

Museveni appealed to parents and teachers to take the responsibility of instilling the right values and principles into the students/children in order to guarantee that they will make correct decisions when they grow up and assume positions of responsibility.
He reiterated his call to teachers to guide students to make wise career choices.
The President appealed saying, “I want to use this occasion to re-echo my call to institutions of learning to guide our children to make wise career choices by selecting science related subjects.”
Museveni said the country is now with enough electricity, good roads, peace….noting that the government is prioritizing industrialization to increase production in order to reduce on the importation of commodities that can be produced in Uganda.

Museveni said, “By importing these commodities, we leave our own children unemployed since we donate both money and jobs to foreigners.”
He disclosed how the demand for skilled manpower is increasing as the country scales up for industrialization.
The president however guided that students must be equipped with skills to adapt a rapidly changing global economy of technology. The ‘Father of the Nation’ implored students to work hard towards attaining a profession/skill that helps to create and acquire a job on the market.
The Ministry of education permanent secretary Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda told the parents, teachers and students that the ministry is committed towards transforming the education system to cater for the young population.
Turyagyenda is an Old Girl of Bweranyangi. She commended the school for grooming and transforming her.
The Senior Presidential Advisor on Public relations Mary Karooro Okurut who is the patron for Bweranyangi Old Girls Association (BWOGA) saluted Museveni and the first lady Mrs. Janet Museveni for their contributions towards the school and towards the girl child’s education.
The Headmistress Molly Buhwairoha said the chapel will continue to help the school in shaping generations of young women into responsible and God fearing citizens.
Buhwairoha however said family related challenges such as domestic violence continue to impact students’ well being and academic performance. She called upon all stakeholders to collaborate in mitigating the issue of domestic violence in families to create a supportive and nurturing environment for children.
